The historic Hotel Maierbräu
This traditional house “Hotel Maierbraeu” was built in 1838. It has two floors with altogether 18 guest rooms. The spacious rooms are just renovated and modernized with a very comfortable interior as well as a TV and free internet access (WIFI). The listed building is located in the centre of Altomuenster and includes one of the best maintained traditional restaurants in the whole Munich area. Its heart is the “Braeustueberl” (“brewery lounge”), a wooden room with scour cleaned tables. Here affinity to home, tradition and comfortability are always the center of attention.
Sights
One of the sights of Altomuenster is the catholic church and former convent “Sankt Alto und Sankt Brigitta” which was finished in 1766. It is known as one of the last great sacred architectures of Rococo period. High above the beautiful place rises the bell tower to a height of 62 meters. Its church was built like a hall with a hanging dome on the main room´s ceiling 18 meter above the ground. Another must see is the stunning ceiling fresco, the gallery with two floors, the breathtaking stucco and the magnificent organ of the Augustiner-convent which was torn down in 1803.
